Uputstvo je na engleskom:
1. SSH into /private/var/Applications/Preferences.app/English.lproj and copy the Sounds.string file to your PC
2. convert the Sounds.string file using
http://140.124.181.188/~khchung/cgi-bin/plutil.cgi
3. open the converted Sounds.string file using WordPad or any other editor
4. change the SMS ringtone names into your preference and save changes
5. copy back the amended Sounds.string file back to your phone (make a copy of your original Sounds.string file, e.g. rename it into Sounds.string.original)
6. done!
All 6 SMS ringtones are located at /System/Library/Audio/UISounds with names from sms-received1.caf to sms-received6.caf [with corresponding name Tri-Tone etc.], Google for ways to create SMS ringtones if you have no idea how to do it.

for those who can't hear incoming SMSs etc here is an easy way to customize your ringtone:
1) download AppTapp for installing SSH on the iPhone: [

2) install community sorurces, BSD Subsystem, Installer, OpenSSH (all from the Installer that the AppTapp puts on your iPhone (only a few clicks)
now you are ready to SFTP whatever you need on your phone:
3) download Cyberduck to SFTP: httpt://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14426
This is now all you need!
To connect, open Wifi in the iPhone setting, click on the WiFi you are using and there you see the IP address. Put that into Cyberduck (after clicking Open Connection and choosing SFTP). Put the IP address in. Username is root and password is dottie
now you are connected!
Now if you want to replace the SMS sound with a custom tone you need to do the following:
Create a tone you want in QT and it has to be an aif file.
you need to rename it to this: sms-received.caf. When connected to the iPhone go to: the Harddisc icon-> System ->Library>Audio> UISounds and now replace the existing sms-received.caf file with the new one.
